Power Assist Solutions

Power Assist Solutions company was started by my co-founder and I; it started as our senior design project. The goal of the venture is to make wheelchair transport easier in hospitals and large healthcare facilities. We aim to reduce injury and fatigue that comes with pushing individuals, and saving time and associated costs that injuries cause.

Accomplishments:

As a venture started with two engineers, we've made large leaps with business development and positioning our company. This was a crash course in entrepreneurship and business, and I was able to learn from other startups in the Boston ecosystem. Participating in 

  • Awarded prize funding from the following:

    • 1st in NEU Biotech SEED competition

    • 2nd in Husky Startup Challenge

    • Best Video Pitch Award @ Research Innovation event (RISE)

  • Accepted into MassChallenge Boston 2017 accelerator program

Responsibilities:

  • Learned how to start a company and understood the reasoning behind business decisions

  • Conducted user research with various target groups, defining our product's definition and positioning

  • Created financial projections and managed/allocated funds

  • Led electronics system design

    • Programmed Arduino based control with integrated sensors (accelerometers+gyroscopes)

    • Designed easy to operate device, incorporating user input into final design function and control
